US iPhone Share Growth
Apparently, folks living in the US still want the iPhone.

There were rumors earlier in the week that the release of Google Maps for iOS was driving an increase in adoption of iOS 6. The thinking being, people were holding off installing iOS 6 until there was a Google Maps option available for the platform. While there were certainly some people doing this, it never seemed right to me that the number was large enough to account for the change.
Today, MacRumors posted a story with supporting data from Chitika that shows very little increase in domestic iOS 6 adoption rate. The actual cause of the previously observed increase appears to be a little more obvious on second thought.
iMore writer Chris Umiastowski has penned a good, brief post about Apple's iPhone opportunity in China. It's worth a read following Apple's iPhone 5 launch in China on Friday.
Horace Dediu has taken a quick look at the numbers announced by Apple for iPhone 5 sales in China on opening weekend. It looks like a very solid performance in advance of Chinese New Year.
If you're a true technology geek and want to read the ultimate review of the iPhone 5, you need to head over to the AnandTech review. There's more information there than most people need, and few will want to read the entire 22 page review. I'd recommend using the drop down menu at the bottom of the page to select areas of interest. Nobody does in depth technical product reviews better than AnandTech.
Matthew Panzarino pens a beautiful review of the iPhone 5 over at the TNW. I like his focus on the steps Apple is taking to make the iPhone disappear to the user. Some of his arguments run counter to my post a few days ago about Apple's design choices, but it's a valuable opinion.

Apple has released a Carrier Update for the Verizon iPhone 5. The update corrects a potentially expensive problem whereby the phone will transfer data on the cellular network even while connected to a Wi-Fi network. My phone has certainly been afflicted by this condition and I'm relieved a fix is now available.
To force the update, head into Settings > General > About and wait for the banner to pop up. Then follow the instructions.
I've owned white iPhones since they became available in the second design iteration. I loved my white iPhone 4S, but one design detail always bugged me. The tiny plastic strips that separated the external antenna were black, and didn't match the rest of the phone. I always found it odd since less obvious features like the inside of the headphone jack and dock connector were color matched to the body. I always wondered if this drove Jony Ive crazy as it did me.
It's a very minor point, but I'm really happy when I look at my iPhone 5 and see white stripes interrupting the aluminum structure. Call me crazy. I wear it as a badge.
White stripes make me happy.
